Additionally, the gap is wide enough to actually hook a fish (not always the case with circle hooks). I purchased the 8/0, but probably should have got the 9/0 (they seem slightly smaller than other 8/0 hooks). Additionally, having the point in-line helps if you drift fish. I have yet to get a serious snag with one of these hooks.

Can i use spade hooks

and, an overhand (granny) knot in the line of the sliding hook will stop it at any point (in front of the snell.)

Easiest way to do it now is to download a FREE bubble level app to your phone. Then you can read digital numbers for your angle as you are running at different speeds. It will read out how much tilt left-right and front-back all at the same time if you lay your phone flat on the dash or on the floor.
